EMERGE will be an international centre for creative experience based in Vigo, Spain. It completely reimagines the intentions, outcomes and impacts of a conventional art museum. A visit will help reveal, manifest and foster the creative potential within each of us, in a way which positively impacts our day to day lives, our relationships, our economic contribution and our health & wellbeing.

I have over 25 years’ experience at the intersection of creative arts, education, and entrepreneurship. I founded and led two pioneering private educational institutions. dBs Institute (UK) and Catalyst – Institute for Creative Arts & Technology (Germany), both known for their innovative, student-centred and project-based learning environments. I guided Catalyst from a small start-up in 2012 to international recognition, hosting 600+ students from over 80 different countries completing degrees and masters programmes in a range of creative disciplines.

Until I came across this website I hadn't even heard of 'neuroarts' though I had certainly consumed lots of information on concepts or research which were in related fields i.e. how do creativity and arts impact the 'being of a human being'. I was also creating practice out of these ideas inside Catalyst and indeed I saw it as the most important thing we could be doing as an institution. What I find really exciting is that some of those practice led concepts can now be studied within a rapidly developing neuroscience framework. At EMERGE, it's my intention to an early stage to have the involvement of people working in this field either to inform the design of the visitor experiences or later on to be involved in ongoing practice led research.
