Solis, First District; Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture; and Healing Arts—an initiative of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab—and the World Health Organization, this unique summit offers conversations and participatory experiences, and promotes creative ways to approach wellness.

Hosted by LA Opera in collaboration with LA County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, First District; Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture; and Healing Arts—an initiative of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab—and the World Health Organization, the Summit will gather arts practitioners, medical experts and administrators, funders, policymakers, and researchers at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. This year’s Summit will highlight how the arts can uplift LA's most vulnerable communities, and—through conversations and participatory experiences—we will explore how the arts are vital to individual and collective healing. Presenters and Presenting Organizations will include:

  • • Renée Fleming – Special Projects Advisor, LA Opera and WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Arts and Health 
  • • Kristin Sakoda – Director, Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture 
  • • Dr. Assal Habibi – Associate Research Professor of Psychology, USC Brain and Creativity Institute 
  • • Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Music Mends Minds, Alzheimer’s Los Angeles, Able ARTS Work, Arts & Healing Initiative, and more to be announced
