Our imaginative, contemporary approach encourages new forms of access, participation and engagement with arts and culture, pushing boundaries with digital technology and mobile programmes.
We work in partnership with artists, cultural organisations and communities, exploring all art forms, and creating unforgettable cultural experiences for everyone.
Founded by entrepreneur Frédéric Jousset in 2019, Art Explora is a collective journey bringing together many partners and more than 1600 volunteers.
Programs & Activities
Our work is structured around five key pillars: mobility, digital innovation, artist support, community engagement, and network development.
Our mobility initiatives aim to engage new audiences and foster deeper connections with art. Flagship projects include the Art Explora Festival, featuring the first museum boat to sail the Mediterranean (220,000 visitors in 2024), and the MuMo museum trucks, which bring artworks from the Centre Pompidou and regional collections (FRAC) to underserved communities across France, welcoming 47,393 visitors in 2024. In 2025, this initiative will expand with the launch of the CineMo, a mobile cinema, followed in 2026 by a third museum truck in partnership with the Musée d’Orsay.
In the digital realm, the Foundation explores new forms of cultural engagement, most notably through the Art Explora Academy, an online platform that now has over 700,000 cumulated users.
Through our community programmes, we aim to strengthen social ties and cultural access via a wide range of artistic, educational, and social activities — including workshops, cultural site visits, discussions, and digital learning tools. These initiatives have reached to date 47,000 beneficiaries, targeting vulnerable populations such as disadvantaged youth, individuals living in rural or precarious areas, and people facing isolation, illness, or disability.
We also support artistic creation through our residency programmes at the Villa Montmartre in Paris and the recently opened Vila 31 in Tirana, which together welcome up to 50 emerging and established artists a year.
Finally, Art Explora is committed to cultivating professional networks within the arts sector. We create spaces for dialogue and knowledge-sharing on audience engagement. Our main initiatives in this area include the Art Explora – Académie des beaux-arts European Award and the "Arts & Audiences Now" events. Since 2019, 100 organisations have been shortlisted for the Award, while 180 professionals have participated in our dedicated workshops.
