Dr. Renee Christensen works at the intersection of human health and wellbeing, architectural design, and activism. She is internationally renown as a proactive and resourceful interdisciplinary researcher committed to supporting the cultivation of inclusive, sustainable, and healthy buildings and communities to enable individuals and the environment to thrive through an approach that fuses new technologies with cultural and environmental sensitivity. This unique approach centers around architectural anthropology which enriches the creative design process through exploring the intricate relationship between society, ideology, and the built environment, focusing on the wellbeing of inhabitants.
She holds a PhD in Environment & Behavior from University of Missouri-Columbia, where she conducted research on how the built environment influences human behavior, health, and quality of life. She has published multiple papers on topics such as nursing home design, participatory design, and ethnographic research methods.
