Classroom Guest Speaker Request: Psychology of Sports + Music
February 12th, 2026I'm posting on behalf of a teacher based in Kansas City, Missouri who is coordinating a lesson around the physiological/psychological impact of music in sporting events. She's looking for a guest speaker who could provide insight on this topic to her students. An in-person individual would be ideal, and the group is able to travel throughout the greater Kansas City area (including Lawrence, KS, Warrensburg, MO, etc). If you know anyone who might be a good fit for this discussion, please contact me directly and I will pass your information along to the teacher. A description of the proposed class session is below:
Elizabeth Mulkey, Notre Dame de Sion High School:“We will, we will rock you!” Did you stomp and clap after reading that line? How many songs and chants can you instantly join while watching a baseball, soccer, basketball or football game? Music and sports are intertwined and an integral component of the live experience. Each piece is meticulously crafted to enhance engagement, amplify drama, and ensure a memorable event for all involved. Together we will explore the historical evolution, psychological impact, and strategic planning of music at sporting events.Sound is to sport what spice is to food – it heightens the senses and elevates the experience. From stadium seats to the couch, music is used throughout the sports world to strike an emotional chord that deeply engages fans. What makes sound so effective at sporting events?I am looking for someone to come in and speak and engage with us for about 2 hours on either March 9th or the 11th. We can travel to you or you can come to us.
