The joint ICMPC–ESCOM 2027 conference brings together the 19th International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition and the 13th triennial conference of the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music. It will take place August 16–20, 2027, in Helsinki, Finland, and online.
Under the theme “Music, Mind, Body and Brain: Music as Human Experience,” the conference explores what happens when people listen to, make, and share music. It brings together research on how the brain makes sense of music, how rhythm moves the body, and how musical experiences shape development and well-being. The conference also considers how people use music to express themselves, connect with others, and build a sense of belonging across cultures and communities.
The opening day, August 16, will take place in the Great Hall of the University of Helsinki’s Main Building. The conference continues at Marina Congress Center from August 17–20. The conference language is English.
