Science Meets Music: “Bach and Brain”

This program combines insights into the brain’s neuronal networks with piano music by one of the greatest composers of all time, Johann Sebastian Bach. Dr. Moritz Helmstaedter, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research and pianist, will discuss how the brain processes expectations—and how composers skillfully use those expectations to both satisfy and surprise their listeners.
