Spring 2026 Research Seminar Series

The Flourishing Academic Network is concluding this spring’s Research Seminar Series, which features speakers from across the network with diverse areas of expertise. The seminars are virtual (via Zoom) and one hour in length, with approximately 40 minutes for the presentation and 20 minutes for Q&A.
The third and final seminar of the semester will feature Dr. Brendan Ozawa-de Silva, Associate Teaching Professor, Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics, Emory University. Dr. Ozawa-de Silva’s talk, “A Contemplative Education: Caught Between the Mundane and the Divine,” explores the tension between measurable outcomes and the sacred sources of wisdom traditions. His work suggests that an orientation toward students’ sense of meaning and identity, far from being a distraction from academic rigor, is one of its deepest supports – and builds capacities that genuine flourishing requires.
