In collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT BHU), and hosted by its Department of Architecture, Planning, and Design, the Architecture, Culture, and Spirituality Forum is organizing its 15th annual meeting to take place in Varanasi from January 9–11, 2026. Recognized as the spiritual heart of India—and widely considered the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world—Varanasi offers an extraordinary setting to explore the profound connections between place, architecture, myth, and living faith traditions. As an ancient seat of knowledge and devotion, the city will serve not only as a stimulating backdrop for rigorous presentations and dialogues but also as the stage for unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. The symposium will be held on the historic, century-old campus of IIT BHU, close to the sacred Ganga River and surrounded by the city’s iconic temples and palaces.
ACSF 15 promises to be an intellectually rich and globally diverse gathering. We invite proposals for papers, design/research projects, and panels addressing the symposium theme, "Myths and Placemaking," and topics to architecture, culture, and spirituality. Submission Deadline: July 1, 2025
