General Operating Support for Organizations (GOSO) is a competitive, multi-year funding program administered by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA). The program provides unrestricted operating support to Rhode Island-based arts and culture organizations and culturally specific organizations that deliver meaningful arts and cultural programming while demonstrating sustained community impact.
Eligible nonprofit organizations and fiscally sponsored groups may receive $10,000 annually for three years to strengthen organizational sustainability, build capacity, and expand public access to the arts.
The program prioritizes equitable distribution of funding across geographic regions, organizational budget sizes, and underserved communities. It supports organizations that contribute to Rhode Island's cultural vitality, economic development, and quality of life through accessible, community-centered arts programming.
Applications open on July 1 and are due by September 1, with funding supporting activities during Rhode Island's fiscal year.
