When we think about leadership development, we often think about courses, coaching and frameworks, less often do we relate it to creative practice. Yet making art asks us to strengthen many of the same capabilities we value in leaders. The emerging field of neuroaesthetics and neuroarts is beginning to put science behind what artists, makers and therapists have long understood.

Abstract/Description
An exploration of how art-making can serve as a powerful professional development practice, strengthening the human capabilities that underpin effective leadership, collaboration and team cohesion. Drawing on personal experience alongside emerging research in neuroaesthetics, neuroscience and psychology, it examines how creative practice cultivates self-awareness, emotional regulation, curiosity and adaptability. The article argues that the process of making art offers more than creative expression; it provides a practical way for leaders and organisations to develop the reflective and relational capacities needed to navigate complexity, communicate effectively and lead with greater presence.
