Re-tu(r)ning is an immersive neuro-somatic experience where art, functional medicine, sound, and food converge. Guided through the stages of Fracture, Aperture, and Capture, participants transform hidden emotions into artistic expression while exploring nervous system regulation, sensory awareness, and embodied healing an invitation to pause, reconnect, and return to oneself.

Abstract/Description

Re-tu(r)ning is an interdisciplinary neuroarts intervention that explores the convergence of contemporary art, functional medicine, neurographic art therapy, sound, and culinary practice as an embodied framework for emotional regulation and nervous system restoration. Developed by multidisciplinary artist Dimas Angkling and physician Dr. Herdy Rizky Susetyo, the project responds to the increasing burden of psychological distress by creating an immersive environment where participants engage in sensory experience rather than verbal therapy alone.

The experience unfolds through three sequential phases—Fracture, Aperture, and Capture. Guiding participants from emotional acknowledgment, through meditative repetition, toward creative integration. Neurographic drawing, live sound, functional nutrition, and neuro-somatic observation work together to encourage interoceptive awareness, reflective processing, and artistic expression. Rather than positioning art and medicine as separate disciplines, Re-tu(r)ning proposes an integrative model in which aesthetic experience, nutrition, and nervous system regulation function as complementary pathways for restoration.

Grounded in emerging neuroscience and a systems-based perspective from functional medicine, the project investigates how multisensory environments may support emotional processing, self-awareness, and embodied resilience. Re-tu(r)ning offers a prototype for neuroarts practice that bridges clinical knowledge with artistic inquiry, inviting new possibilities for preventive mental health, community wellbeing, and collaborative healing beyond conventional therapeutic settings
