Summary-
I am an artist who inspires, teaches, and facilitates individuals, organizations, schools, and communities to create art as a valuable way to express their thoughts, ideas, and visions. My specialty has been combining my understanding of how trauma affects the brain and teaching people mindfulness tools to calm the nervous system and feel regulated. Then working with these individuals to incorporate these into a creative practice. I have developed a curriculum that I have been using at mental health facilities based on “medicine painting.” Utilizing a practice used by indigenous cultures all over the world, this way of painting leads to personal insights on the meaning we make about things that have happened into our lives (the stories we tell ourselves) and to create healing of old wounds.
