MFA graduate, educator, and movement artist, I developed Learning HOW to Age™ after a life-changing accident. My wellness program for 65+ improves mental flexibility, physical perception, and kinesthetic awareness. Backed by a 2-year study, it blends science and the arts. I am a movement educator, artist, and writer with a deep passion for exploring the intersection of the arts, aging, and neuroscience. Following a catastrophic car accident in 2004, I experienced firsthand the healing potential of creative engagement and neuroplasticity. That journey led me to develop Learning HOW to Age®. This wellness program is designed to improve the quality of life for adults 65+. By combining the theories of Dr’s. Moshe Feldenkrais (Feldenkrais), Abraham Maslow (McGuire), Edward De Bono (DeBono) and Richard Restak with the training techniques taught in acting, dance, and music, I was able to develop and launch a pilot program in 2021.
In 2023, I established Expressive Avenues Wellness and began providing instructions on facilitating Learning HOW to Age™️ on the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@Expressiveavenue.
This program is rooted in neuroarts—the application of arts-based strategies grounded in neuroscience—and responds to the widespread decline in well-being among retirees. By shifting the narrative around aging, Learning HOW to Age® arms participants with the skills needed to stay mentally sharp, socially connected, and physically perceptive. The acronym HOW—Honor your past, Open to your present, Welcome your future—frames the experience in a holistic and participant-centered way.

Interests

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time outdoors—boating, hiking, camping, and staying active are all part of how I stay grounded and inspired. These interests help me remain connected to nature, movement, and the spirit of exploration, which I also bring into my wellness programs and creative practices.
I have recently been the featured speaker at a spiritual formation retreat.
