Carol Davis

Newly "rewired" instead of "retired" thanks to the work of Chip Conley's Modern Elder Academy and the AARP. It is a work in progress!
During my 30+ year career in the Washington, DC Metro area, I was a project manager and instructional designer (ISD) of instructor-led training and eLearning. In my retired/rewired world, I am exploring new interests for fun and volunteering for HomePorts whose mission is to enable people to stay in their homes by providing rides to the doctors and home visits. I also volunteer with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to reduce stigma by sharing my story and messages of hope toward the day when no one will die by suicide.
As a NAMI MD volunteer, I present a program called Ending the Silence to youth and college students so they can learn about mental health warning signs and ways to help. For NAMI MD's new program, Creativity Connects, I collaborate with community partners to design and facilitate engaging and meaningful activities that connect makers and lovers of art to the mental health benefits of the arts and aesthetics. Research and inspiration for this work will come from NAMI MD, Your Brain on Art, by Susan Magsamen, and the Neuroarts Resource Center.
