Courtney Cotton is a conceptual artist whose work refers to perspective and perception. Living & work in Landrum SC w/pilot studio in Boulder CO. She views her current work which includes collage and painting, as a tool for healing and promotes using conscious awareness to develop coping skills and resilience.

Professional artist with over 28 years of experience across fine arts, architecture and design, and the nonprofit sector. As both a mentor and collaborator in the creative community, I bring a unique blend of business acumen and artistic vision to each endeavor. With a hands-on, solutions-driven approach, I’ve taken full ownership of every project I’ve led overseeing art direction, project management, and stakeholder engagement with care and commitment. As I take on increasingly complex responsibilities, I have developed the courage and clarity of purpose to step into the public art realm to expand my impact. I am currently in the process of securing certified woman-owned business status.

Cotton was awarded a Career Advancement Grant in 2022 and has used the funds to start an ambitious sculpture project “The Circle Conversation,” a combination of community engagement and ultimately a three dimensional 3 piece sculpture that promotes awareness and dialogue surrounding mental health and well being. She completed an invitational artist residency in 2020 at the Rule Gallery in Marfa, Texas. Previous awards include second place in both Miami & Steamboat Springs and a Technical Brilliance award from The Art Students League Denver for a sculpture.

Her painting La Danza was published in La Danza Cósmica, a book by Martin Huerta Santiago de Chile. She is represented by Candita Clayton Gallery, in Pawtucket RI • New London NH, Red Rocks Fine Art, Morrison CO and SeeSaw Gallery in Englewood, CO.

As more private collectors and businesses continue to support her art Cotton’s artistic path reflects an unflinching willingness to experiment. Her adventurousness is evident in the wide range of works that compromise her oeuvre.
