InterUrban ArtHouse is a community-driven arts nonprofit dedicated to enriching the cultural and economic vibrancy of Johnson County and the greater Kansas City region. Guided by our mission to create an affordable, sustainable, and inclusive environment where artists and creative industries can thrive, we bring together art, wellbeing, and community engagement under one roof.
Across each of our programs, InterUrban ArtHouse centers accessibility, collaboration, and the belief that creativity strengthens communities. By supporting artists and connecting them with the broader public, we work to build a vibrant, resilient, and inclusive creative ecosystem for all.
Programs & Activities
Our programs are built in direct response to the needs of local artists, partners, and residents—identified through ongoing research, dialogue, and community outreach. Through collaborative civic, cultural, and business partnerships, we continually advance five core program areas:
• ArtMatters – Exhibitions, cultural events, and community storytelling that highlight diverse artistic voices and foster public engagement.
• ArtWorks – Professional development, business training, and capacity-building for artists at all stages of their careers.
• ArtsConnect – Partnerships with libraries, businesses, and public spaces that expand access to art across the region.
• ArtSmart – Arts education programs that provide youth and families with creative learning opportunities.
• ArtHeals – Art-and-wellbeing initiatives, including Creative Conversations and social prescribing, that support mental and physical health through creative practices.
