Dr. Julie Thompson-Dobkin is a Board-certified neurologist in San Francisco, with a career that spans teaching, research, and providing care for underserved populations. Founding Hidden Truths Project in 2012 built on the arts as a creative narrative to share lived experiences, reclaim agency, and improve well-being. The work focuses on people living with visible and hidden disabilities.
Board-certified neurologist with experience in clinical research, teaching, and mentoring in the neurosciences. My work has extended from third world nations to domestic academic institutions, and most recently has focused on providing neurological care for the undocumented/indigent population of Orange County, California. Over the past eleven years, my research has focused on quality-of-life issues, education, and the use of art to raise awareness of socially challenging situations in marginalized populations.
Founder of Hidden Truths Project (HTP) in 2012, a non-profit that looks to promote the arts as a creative narrative to engage and empower marginalized members of our society and promote dialogue, understanding, and acceptance with a focus on epilepsy and the neurodivergent community. Through engagement with this population, we have developed a community of peers, amplifying their voices and concerns to impact change.
