I am a Doctor of Public Health candidate and the Head of Research at Art Pharmacy, an arts-based social prescribing company advancing mental health equity through arts and cultural engagement. I lead Art Pharmacy’s research strategy—managing data collection and analysis, integrating scientific evidence into care delivery, and collaborating with external researchers.

I am the Head of Research at Art Pharmacy, an arts-based social prescribing company. I am a mixed-methods researcher and program evaluator who has spent more than a decade studying innovative strategies for enhancing mental health equity. I currently oversee research activities at Art Pharmacy, including managing internal data collection and analysis to drive program improvement and demonstrate value, infusing scientific evidence and research into care delivery and operations, and establishing partnerships and collaborations with external researchers to advance the field of arts-based social prescribing. I am the Principal Investigator on a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant awarded by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) to research and develop Art Pharmacy’s evidence-based social prescribing model and technology, including leveraging machine learning and AI to optimize arts prescriptions for members’ health and well-being.

I started my career in community mental health and federally qualified health center service delivery in Atlanta, screening patients for trauma and social needs and linking them to supportive services. Prior to my work at Art Pharmacy, I worked in academic and contract research organizations at NORC at the University of Chicago and the Georgia Health Policy Center where I led studies for national health organizations (such as the American Cancer Society), federal offices (including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), state agencies (Departments of Public Health, Behavioral Health, and Medicaid), and foundations (such as the California Health Care Foundation) examining access to care, social determinants of health, patient and member experience, behavioral health and primary care integration, trauma-informed care, social marketing campaigns, and health equity. I was the research lead on an award-winning mental health promotion campaign called How Right Now/Qué Acer Ahora, which was aimed at helping vulnerable populations develop healthy coping skills during the COVID-19 pandemic in partnership with CDC. I hold a Master of Public Health in Health Education and Behavioral Science from Emory University and I am a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate in Health Equity and Social Justice at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Interests

I have lived in Atlanta for over 15 years and enjoy exploring all of the arts, culture, recreation, and civic assets that the city has to offer! I am a longtime High Museum member and avid consumer of live music at the many wonderful concert venues here. I also love taking walks in Westside park with my husband and my dog - its the biggest park in Atlanta and its right in my back yard!

I am also a member of the Global Alliance for Behavioral Health and Social Justice, an interdisciplinary professional organization dedicated to advancing health equity and mental health improvement through policy advocacy, research, and coalition building.
