Maja Kerin is a Monaco-based, award-winning fine art photographer and founder of Your Daily Pause, a mindful photography method built around three simple pillars: Pause. Notice. Create.
Her interest in the relationship between creativity and wellbeing grew from lived experience. During a challenging period in her life, photography became a way to slow down, reconnect with her surroundings and gradually reconnect with herself. That experience eventually grew into her career as a fine art photographer and later became the foundation of Your Daily Pause.
Through her artistic practice and Your Daily Pause, Maja explores how mindful photography, creative attention and the simple act of noticing can encourage curiosity, presence and self-connection. Your Daily Pause is not about teaching photography technique, but about using mindful photography as an accessible doorway into creativity.
Alongside her professional photography practice, she has completed Yale's The Science of Well-Being course and UCL's Arts, Culture and Heritage: Understanding their complex effects on our health, and continues to deepen her understanding of the growing field connecting arts, creativity and health.
She hopes to contribute the perspective of an artist and practitioner exploring mindful photography in everyday life, while learning from researchers, clinicians and fellow practitioners in the NeuroArts community. She is particularly interested in thoughtful collaboration, supporting evidence-building and exploring how creative practices can be made more accessible across different ages and communities.
Interests
Maja’s interests include mindful photography, creative wellbeing, arts and health, and the role of everyday creative practice in fostering attention, curiosity and connection.
She is particularly interested in how young people can be encouraged to use technology more creatively, moving from passive consumption towards active noticing and making. Through Your Daily Pause, she is exploring how a simple phone camera can become a tool for attention, creativity and self-expression.
She is also interested in creative health, social prescribing, intergenerational practice, and opportunities to collaborate with researchers and practitioners to better understand and evaluate the potential of mindful photography to support wellbeing.
