Matt Wisotsky
I am a performing musician, composer, administrator, and student of the arts. My main artistic focus is expanding access and interest in the musical ecosystems that I am part of, through supporting and participating in community-based arts initiatives.
As a musician, I am primarily trained in contemporary classical and jazz, and I am especially interested in the intersection of the two.
Currently based in Wisconsin, I work with several local arts organizations, including Arts + Literature Laboratory (ALL) and Verona Area Concert Bands. I am currently working as a community curator for the Lab^4 interdisciplinary curation project at ALL.
I am a recent graduate of Williams College, where I studied performance and composition as well as mathematics. Having trained in several musical styles including contemporary and traditional classical, jazz and improvisation, musical theater, and VGM/screen scoring, my musical work focuses on exploring the intersections of these styles. This work extends also to the science of sound and the interaction between music and math.
I strongly believe that art has immense potential to help people, particularly in a period when ways to heal and meaningfully engage with others are desperately needed. Neuroarts has helped me bridge the gap between my interest in the arts and a desire to contribute to my communities. As I continue to learn about the field and improve my musical practice, I am excited to connect with others who share a similar desire to leverage the healing power of art.
