Salome Galindo

Hi!
My name is Salome, and I’m looking to start a NeuroArts club at Wesleyan University this spring. I’m a prospective double major in Neuroscience & Behavior and Studio Art, and I’m really interested in building a space where science and creativity can intersect. I’d love to connect and learn how I can use NeuroArts resources to help get this club implemented soon!
At Wesleyan, I’m pursuing a double major in Neuroscience & Behavior and Studio Art with plans to attend medical school after graduation. My long-term goal is to become a neurologist and eventually open a rehabilitation clinic for patients with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and ALS.
I have always grown up around art and it has become even more personal to me, after my grandmother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Making art together has been one of the most meaningful ways for me to connect with her, and it’s shaped how I think about patient care, dignity, and quality of life. Because of this, I’m especially interested in how art-based interventions can support cognition skills and identity in patients with dementia and other neurological conditions.
I’m eager to learn more about research in neuroaesthetics and the therapeutic applications of NeuroArts, and how these approaches can be implemented in clinical and medical settings. Feel free to reach out!
