My name is Sara Morris, (PhD, RSMT). I am a teacher, writer, performer, and a registered art/ movement therapist with ISMETA. I also teach psychology at Meridian University. I have a BFA in acting from The University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. and PhD in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in Somatic Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute. As a somatic therapist, I work with Inscaping (an art-based embodied self-inquiry modality) through authentic movement, drawing, and embodied writing. My clients vary from actors on their self-care as they deal with emotionally challenging characters to facilitating ritual life transitions and body image challenges and working with those in trauma recovery. I’ve published in Somatics Magazine, Dance, Movement and Spiritualities, Journal of Dance & Somatic Practices, and ProQuest. My lecture and teaching workshops focus on the connection between mind, body, and psyche, as well as the relevance of dreams, the imagination, and the power of image and the archetypal. I am the author of the memoir The Invisible Bones, my dissertation entitled Stepping in and Out of Character: Investigating the Embodiment of Shared Flesh in the Self-Care of the Actor; and the upcoming books Inscaping, Living the Practice as an Artist, and Well-Being Through Inscaping: Dialoguing with Trauma in the Body. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and learning alongside you!
