Stephanie Ellison
Stephanie Ellison is a movement researcher and anthropologist who has taught Pilates and dance for more than twenty-five years. She treats movement as a form of knowledge and studies the role of the body in nonverbal communication and collaboration.
Stephanie Ellison is an anthropologist and movement researcher who has taught Pilates and somatic movement in rehabilitative settings for more than twenty-five years, across Europe, the UK, Asia, and the US. Her work treats movement as a form of knowledge and looks at the role of the body in communication and collaboration across settings including education and healthcare. She holds a Choreomundus International Master's in Dance Knowledge, Practice, and Heritage, an Erasmus consortium on dance and movement as intangible cultural heritage. As a PhD Fellow in Anthropology at Aarhus University, her current project investigates nonverbal interaction and collaborative sense-making under conditions of uncertainty in clinical medicine, incorporating a cognitive science approach in collaboration with Silkeborg Regional Hospital. She took part in the early stages of DanceBrainRehab, an EU dance initiative in Helsinki, collaborates on neurodiverse teaching in the classroom, and is a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.
