Thurmond Alford Jr.

I am an Instructor, Facilitator, and Practitioner in Mindfulness, Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design, and, now, NeuroArts.
I hold an undergraduate degree in Interior Design and a master's degree in Design Thinking. Doing my graduate degree, I got sick and had to see several medical specialists until I found the one who taught me mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork; this changed my life and resolved my medical condition. Then during COVID, my company decided to offer weekly mindfulness sessions for all employees, with a licensed facilitator guiding us weekly. From that point forward, I have been an advocate for mindfulness and the power of your mind. Since then, I have become a certified Mindfulness Practitioner and Instructor. I have been pursuing my own research and practice into the powers of mindfulness (breathwork, creative arts, and physical movement), activities that help people reduce stress and control anxiety in creative ways.
Interests
My interests are in:
The Contemplative Science of Mindfulness (Breathwork, Mindful Creative Arts, Mindful Physical Movements (Observation Walks and Photography Walks). Looking at how mindfulness can assist in developing your "Super Powers", like assisting people with dropping into hyperfocus (Flowstate) (The Zone) mode faster.
Also interested in Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design, where the connection with mindfulness is explored through the different phases (Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test) that allow teams to find that solution to the wicked problem. I would be remiss if I did not mention my interest in AI and the specific AI agents or apps that can assist in the Design Thinking process, along with their involvement within the Mindfulness movement too.
