Whakami began exploring design as a competitive advantage early on, with her master’s thesis in economics on Apple Inc. (2005).

She managed digital projects as a freelancer—from brand communication, over software development to content marketing—for clients including Beiersdorf (SkinlyAI, Skin Coach), Jung von Matt TECH (VisualVest, Bosch, Vodafone, Mercedes-Benz, and others), RNRA (Telekom), Gruner+Jahr (Bosch), thjnk (RWE, Henkel), PuK (Holsten, Astra, Audi), and many more.

Motherhood led her to become a certified resilience coach, and to learn about neurodivergent differences & needs, as well as the functioning of the brain’s awareness filter. Fascinated by the potential to foster connectedness through design with the side effect of supporting mental & physical health.

As smART Transitions Artist Whakami creates J⦾y (= mental states of mindfulness & presence) with her artwork and consults on how to pass the brains awareness filter (RAS/Reticular Activating System) by design.
