Film & Psychology: Research Collaboration
October 29th, 2026
OFF MIRROR Studio & Lab invites researchers and university teams to collaborate at the intersection of author-driven narrative cinema and psychology.
I am Co-founder and Head of Production at OFF MIRROR Studio & Lab. Our work brings together independent filmmaking, the exploration of psychological questions, and the development of methodologies.
We are developing OFFMIRRORING — a professionally guided psychological system built around specially designed narrative films. Through a character’s story, it is designed to help people explore internal conflicts, rules, and patterns that shape their choices, relationships, and the way they build their lives.
We have already developed an initial concept for OFFMIRRORING, begun work on its psychological and methodological foundations, and completed The Unlived Life, a psychological short film. This existing work provides a starting point for research collaboration.
We are seeking a scientific partner to help refine and develop these foundations, formulate research questions, select appropriate methods, and evaluate the approach’s potential and limitations. Our long-term aim is to explore its possible use in professional psychological practice.
We welcome a researcher, laboratory, or university team that would bring its own scientific perspective and methodological expertise to shaping this research with us. We would be glad to share more about our existing work and discuss possible forms of collaboration.
If this connects with your work, please contact me through my NRC profile or by email at maryna@offmirror.studio with a brief introduction, your affiliation, and the aspect you would be interested in exploring.
